OverView

Nepal is a country situated in southeast Asia, bordered by China to the north and India to the south, east, and west. The country boasts a rich cultural heritage and diverse natural beauty, making it a popular destination for tourists worldwide. The stunning Himalayas, including the world's highest peak, Mount Everest (8,848.86 m), are among the country's most famous natural wonders.

Nepal is best for all kinds of travelers. One can visit here for religious, city sightseeing, or adventure purposes. The country has been successfully attracting foreigners for more than a decade. As a result, tourism is one of its significant sources of income. People around the world visit Nepal every season. However, spring (March, April, and May) and autumn (September, October, and November) are considered high seasons, when many tourists from outside the country visit because the weather is clear and suitable for visiting any sites within the country.

In order to introduce Nepal to others, New Road Travel and Tours (NRTT) has designed the Nepal Tour Package. With this package, we take tourists on a tour of five various sites in the country that are naturally beautiful and hold religious significance worldwide: Kathmandu Valley, Chitwan National Park, Lumbini, Pokhara, and Bandipur. Our package lasts for 10 nights and 11 days. Our licensed tour guide will accompany you and help you explore these places.

Here are some general details about the popular destinations that are mentioned above:

Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu Valley is the historical valley of the country, located at 1,400 meters above sea level. The valley has three districts: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, with Kathmandu serving as the capital of Nepal. The majority of people in the valley are from the Newari community. There are many old temples, around 500 years old on average.

The entire valley is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. There are seven specific places: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Changu Narayan Temple, and Patan Durbar Square. These places are popular attractions for tourists.

It is said that, in ancient times, the entire Kathmandu Valley was a lake, occupied by snakes. A Chinese god, Manjushree, once visited the valley, and a lotus in the middle of the valley drew his attention because a great flame was coming out of it.

Subsequently, he decided to create a gorge in Chobhar by cutting with his sword so that all the water would flow out of the valley and become the land of human civilization. This way, other devotees would be able to worship the flame from a close distance. In present times, the area where the lotus once stood is now the site of the Swoyambhunath Stupa.

Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is the first-ever national park in Nepal, established in 1973. Previously known as Royal Chitwan National Park, it occupies a total land area of 952.63 km2 (367.81 sq mi) and is located in Sauraha, Chitwan, sharing borders with Makwanpur, Nawalparasi, and Parsa districts. Initially used as a hunting ground for the royal family, it was officially designated as a conservation area in 1973.

The national park boasts rich flora and fauna, with over 700 species of wildlife inhabiting the area. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, it offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture, traditions, and cuisine of the indigenous Tharu community, which dominates the region.

Lumbini

Lumbini is situated in the Rupandehi district of Lumbini province, Nepal. This is the sacred place where Siddhartha Gautama Shakya, later known as Lord Buddha, was born in 623 BC to Maya Devi. Having attained enlightenment in the late 6th century BC, he went on to establish Buddhism and earned the title 'Light of Asia.' Noteworthy evidence confirming Lumbini as Buddha's birthplace includes the Ashoka Pillar, constructed by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BC during his Lumbini visit.

Lumbini hosts several temples, such as the Maya Devi Temple and others built by international communities from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Japan, Thailand, and more. In 1997, UNESCO acknowledged Lumbini as a World Heritage Site.

Pokhara

Pokhara, situated in Kaski, Gandaki Province, Nepal, rests at an elevation of 822 meters above sea level. Known as the "City of Lakes," it boasts three renowned lakes: Fewa, Rupa, and Begnas. Dominated by the Gurung and Magar communities, the city's population is estimated at 475,969 as of 2023.

To the north, the Annapurna Mountain Range offers a stunning background, with the majestic peak of Machhapuchhre (6,993 meters above sea level) standing out prominently. Pokhara serves as the gateway to renowned trekking destinations like Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), Machhapuchhre Model Trek (MMT), Poon Hill Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, and Kori Trek. As a result, it attracts adventurers from around the globe.

Bandipur:

Bandipur is located in the Tanahu district of the Gandaki province. It is a place where visitors can have an opportunity to witness authentic Newari culture, distinct from the Kathmandu Valley, which is involved in hotel and clothing businesses. Besides the Newari community, there are also Gurung and Magar communities on the hillside of Bandipur, and they are mainly engaged in agriculture as their profession.

Speaking of its history, the Newari people from Bhaktapur made it a key spot for trade after King Prithivi Narayan Shah came to the Kathmandu Valley in 1768. That's why Bandipur resembles Kathmandu Valley a lot, like a mirror image. They picked this spot because it was free of malaria, which made it an important stop on the trade route between India and Tibet.

The best thing about Bandipur is its central market area, where you will find rows of old-style Newari homes and stores selling crafts and gifts. Furthermore, there are hills perfect for hiking that take you to old villages and lush forests.
