Bandipur is a small and gorgeous town situated on a hill in the Tanahu district of Gandaki province in Nepal. It is a hill station that stands at an elevation of 1,080 meters above sea level on the Mahabharat range and around 700 meters above the Marsyangdi River. It is 80 kilometers east of Pokhara and 143 kilometers west of Kathmandu.
In terms of Bandipur's history, after Prithivi Narayan Shah invaded the Kathmandu Valley in 1768, the Newari people of Bhaktapur established it as a central point for trade. Currently, Bandipur Cable Car & Tourism Ltd. is constructing a cable car and Queen Tower to attract more tourists to the town. The work is almost done, but a few things remain to be completed, which will be done soon. Upon completion, visitors will be able to enjoy a cable car ride from the lower part of the town to the Queen Tower hotel in Upper Station.
The company is expecting to have 500 passengers per hour from various locations throughout Bandipur. However, the opening date of the cable car is not fixed yet.
